Love it! Makes me feel like a cinematographer!
On an old fd lens, the lens gear provided is not neccesary, meaning I can use the gear.on another lens. The follow focus is very well made and solid. No sharp edges or metal splinters. Whether you are solo or a focus puller the orientation of the marked disc is brilliant. Buy it! You won't regret it.
The Focus One is very nice, the build quality is Great. I also own the pocket rig 2 and unfortunately those two dont really work together. The pocket rig bends a lot when I pull focus, and the gears skip, so I have to get another rig to use the follow focus now. Also one minor issue with the focus is, that the resistance is uneven. This is very noticable when I turn it without a lens but not so much when it is attached with a lens. Would be nice if it could be fixed but for the price I can live with that. I have not used it with lenses that have a very low focus resistance though.
Bon produit, bonne finition
Great hardware… works fine...
Excellent piece of equipment. Great follow focus!
Just the price ... I shop it for school. Otherwise it's excellent man. Exactly how to be.
I still can't believe people don't talk about this. It's beautiful and, by itself, works like a wonder. Unfortunately when paired with my lenses, Meike cine lenses, the 0.8 standard pitch gears match each other with a slight play. It's no trouble when focusing, since the play is very subtle, but the sound it makes is not as subtle. I care for silence when shooting. I hoped this would achieve quietness, but it sounds like a loud zipper. It's probably a tolerance issue.
Whilst I really liked the concept and the overall weight / build of the Focus One, sadly it doesn’t produce nearly enough torque. When used in conjunction with larger cine lenses there is excessive vibration and judder. Ideally better suited to small 4/3 and 35mm DSLR lenses.
I haven't had a chance to use the FocusOne rig yet but I am positive that it will be seriously good when I do.
everything fine
Very precise, easy to use. Works well with "hard ring" lenses also. Excellent materials. Great construction. Just wich it had hard stops for continuous rotating rings.
This follow focus system turned out more useful than initially expected. As a single operator and shooting a lot of handheld, this device really improved my focusing precision. I move my camera to me ‘end’-position and set the focus mark there. Then I move my camera to ‘start’-position and focus on my subject. Now I can rather precisely move in and out while keeping the mark in view to roughly guesstimate my focus plane. Combined with checking the focus on the screen this really helps me focus better than simply turning the lens. Great product for a reasonable price.
The one arm connector is great when you’re working on location and switch between photography and film. Using the Pocketrig in combination with Focus one, takes a few minutes to use my hybrid camera as a professional film tool. The size, functionality and build quality combined makes this a pocket devil. I'm not leaving home without it in the morning. The big turn knob makes it super easy to hit the exact focal points. Changing lenses is a breeze. Just one screw and swap the lens. Our image output quality has actually improved. And there's less time for the crew to stand around and wait which means more footage to work with and an energised team. Thanks so much, Edelkrone!
Simply gorgeous
Very precise mechanism, best quality. Smoothly operation. Quality at its best!
The FocusOne is aperfect tool for precise and quick adjustments. It is small and light, ideal in a backpack for nature documentation.
Very nicely build FF unit. Flexible. No play in the gears and nice materials. Only thing I don't like, is the fact it can only be mounted on the left side. I needed it on the right side (grip was already on the left due to the Smallrig cage.
